Homeland Security & Emergency Management Training
Explosive Detection & Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Awareness Training
Explosives are becoming increasingly sophisticated and difficult to detect. GP delivers
an Explosive Detection and Improvised Explosive Device (IED)
Awareness course to help you learn how to use detectors to identify and
characterize different kinds of explosive components and IEDs.
As part of the total solution, participants are taught how to recognize, report,
and respond to potential acts of terrorism involving explosives and IEDs.
In addition, GP can also help you assess your current detection capabilities and
make recommendations for technologies that can help improve your preparedness and
mitigation efforts.
This course will help jurisdictions meet the following capability-specific priority
outlined in the Department of Homeland Security’s National Preparedness
Goal: Strengthen Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE)
Detection, Response, and Decontamination Capabilities.
Rely on comprehensive IED awareness training from experts in explosives.
GP’s instructors have military and civilian Explosive Ordnance Disposal
(EOD), bomb squad, and HAZMAT experience. In particular, the lead
instructional designer for this awareness course was an instructor at the
US Navy Ordnance School and performed EOD operations
in the field. This experience and that of additional subject matter experts make
GP an excellent source for explosive and IED awareness
training.
GP’s Explosive Detection and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Awareness
course is based on doctrine from the US Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center,
the US Navy, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives,
among others. The course is available to private organizations and through the Domestic Preparedness Training Assistance Program (DPETAP).
Count on proven explosive detection and IED awareness training experience.
